Video of Israeli soldier throwing cat over fence sparks outrage online
Al Jazeera reports that footage of an Israeli soldier tossing a cat over a fence has gone viral, while France criticised Israeli minister Ben-Gvir over an AI-generated deportation video.
A video appearing to show an Israeli soldier throwing a cat over a fence has gone viral online, drawing sharp condemnation from viewers, according to Al Jazeera English.
The footage, featured on the broadcaster's Jerusalem Daily NewsFeed segment on October 22, 2026, shows a uniformed soldier picking the animal up and tossing it over a barrier. Al Jazeera reported that the clip has been shared widely on social media, where it has prompted outrage over the treatment of the animal.
The same Jerusalem Daily segment also covered a separate controversy: France criticising Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir after he posted an AI-generated video depicting himself deporting Palestinians from Gaza to France.
Videos documenting the conduct of Israeli soldiers have repeatedly circulated online and attracted international attention, and this latest clip has focused that scrutiny on an alleged act of animal cruelty. Viewers reacting to the footage have called for the incident to be investigated.
Al Jazeera did not publish further details about where or when the original footage was recorded, and it remains unclear whether the soldier involved has been identified or faced disciplinary action. The footage has not been independently verified by TrendWire, and all claims in this article are attributed to the original report.
