Follow live: Luther Burden III's long catch sets up D'Andre Swift TD for Bears

Luther Burden III's 58-yard catch set up D'Andre Swift's touchdown as the Bears opened a 10-0 lead over the Patriots on Thursday Night Football.

The Chicago Bears struck first on Thursday Night Football, with receiver Luther Burden III's biggest play of his young career setting up a D'Andre Swift touchdown against the New England Patriots.

Burden hauled in a 58-yard reception, the longest of his career, to put the Bears on the doorstep, and Swift punched it in from four yards out to open a 10-0 lead at Soldier Field. It was Swift's seventh rushing touchdown of the season.

The Bears opened the scoring with a 43-yard field goal before the Burden-to-Swift connection stretched the advantage. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, who entered the night looking to move past Drew Bledsoe and Steve Grogan for the most wins by a franchise quarterback in his first three seasons, answered with a rushing touchdown of his own. He stretched out for the goal line on a second-and-goal scramble from the 7-yard line, a score initially ruled short before coach Mike Vrabel's challenge overturned the call.

Maye's mobility troubled Chicago throughout the first half, but the Bears defense came up big again when D'Marco Jackson picked him off in the end zone to preserve a 13-7 lead. It was the eighth red zone interception of Maye's career.

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was making his second start after missing time with a hamstring injury as Week 7 of the NFL season kicked off.
