Grealish dropped by Everton after 'breach of club discipline'

Everton left Jack Grealish out of Thursday's Carabao Cup tie with Newcastle United for what the club called a "breach of club discipline," believed to be a missed training session.

Jack Grealish has been dropped from Everton's squad for Thursday's Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle United after what the club described as a "breach of club discipline."

Everton declined to disclose further details, but it is believed the England winger, 31, was omitted for missing a training session.

Grealish is currently on loan at Everton from Premier League rivals Manchester City, returning to the Toffees before the transfer window closed after spending much of last season there under a similar arrangement. He has featured five times for Everton in the Premier League this season and also played in their Carabao Cup third-round win over Wolves.

The former Aston Villa man, who cost City 100 million pounds in 2021, appeared as a substitute in City's 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal at Wembley in August and in the 2-1 opening-weekend win over Bournemouth.

The tie against Newcastle carries a place in the quarter-finals, with Everton among the favourites to progress on home soil.
