Ravens rule out QB Jackson (ankle) Sunday vs. Bengals; Huntley to start

Lamar Jackson has been ruled out of the Baltimore Ravens' game against the Cincinnati Bengals, with Tyler "Snoop" Huntley set to start for a third straight week.

The Baltimore Ravens will again be without Lamar Jackson on Sunday, after ruling their starting quarterback out of the visit from the Cincinnati Bengals.

Baltimore made the call on Saturday, downgrading Jackson from questionable to out. He had been limited in practice all week because of a left ankle injury, described as a high ankle sprain, and the Ravens decided not to risk him in a divisional game.

Tyler "Snoop" Huntley will start in his place, for the third week in a row. Huntley has already been running the offense while Jackson has been sidelined, so Baltimore will not be asking him to step in cold. The change does, however, put the focus back on how the Ravens adjust without the player who drives much of their attack.

The recent history in this matchup adds to the challenge. Since 2019, Baltimore is 0-3 against Cincinnati, including the playoffs, when Jackson has not been its starting quarterback. That record underlines how much the Bengals have been able to take advantage when Jackson is missing.

For Cincinnati, the news removes one of the league's most difficult problems to prepare for. The Bengals can now plan for Huntley rather than Jackson's running threat, although they will still have to handle a Baltimore team that has found ways to stay competitive without its star.

The Ravens, at 4-2, and the Bengals, at 3-2, meet with early-season position in the AFC North at stake, and Baltimore will have to prove it can win this rivalry game without Jackson.
