WNBA's greatest players of all time: Ranking the 30 best in 30-season history

ESPN's 23-voter panel has ranked the 30 greatest WNBA players of all time, with A'ja Wilson taking the top spot ahead of Diana Taurasi and Maya Moore.

A'ja Wilson is officially the greatest player in WNBA history — at least according to ESPN. As the league wraps up its 30th season, a panel of 23 ESPN experts has ranked the top 30 players of all time, and Wilson, the Las Vegas Aces superstar, has taken the No. 1 spot with 17 first-place votes.

It is a striking rise. Wilson only narrowly missed ESPN's top-25 list five years ago, but her last five seasons have been extraordinary: three championships in 2022, 2023 and 2025, plus MVP honors in 2020, 2022, 2023, 2025 and 2026.

Right behind her at No. 2 is Diana Taurasi, the retired Phoenix Mercury legend and the league's all-time leading scorer, who collected five first-place votes. Minnesota Lynx icon Maya Moore is third, her place secured by four championships and a 2014 MVP, though her short eight-year career will always leave fans wondering what might have been.

Houston Comets great Cynthia Cooper is fourth — remarkable for a player with only four full seasons, all ending in championships — followed by Lisa Leslie, Sheryl Swoopes and Tamika Catchings. Breanna Stewart, Candace Parker and Lauren Jackson round out the top 10, while Becky Hammon, famously undrafted in 1999, lands at No. 30.

ESPN notes that evaluating careers across eras is never simple, and that the list will not please everyone. But with seven of the 30 still playing in 2026, the debate over the league's all-time greats is only getting louder.
