Monk on Caldey Island gave naked photos of himself to visitors

The monk denies sexually assaulting a visitor, who says he also gave her naked photos of himself.

A monk who once lived on Caldey Island off the Welsh coast has been accused of handing naked photographs of himself to visitors, alongside sexual assault claims he strongly denies.

Brother Titus Keet, 78, gave regular visitor Natalie Roberts pictures of himself posing nude on beaches around the island, often with handwritten poems or letters, according to a BBC investigation. Roberts, a mother who began holidaying on Caldey in the early 2000s, said receiving the images left her stunned.

She also alleges Keet sexually assaulted her during a 2016 walk from Caldey to nearby St Margaret's Island, describing the moment as "an absolute violation". Keet rejects the account, telling the BBC that "a woman who feels rejected can become very vicious."

A former abbey employee has separately accused the monk of sexual harassment and assault, including unwelcome touching and explicit remarks. Keet denies those allegations as well, calling them "laughable" and quoting scripture in his response.

The claims were investigated by Dyfed-Powys Police, but the force took no further action. The abbot of Caldey Abbey, Father Jan Rossey, said Keet was "required to leave" the island in 2024 and will not be allowed back. He has since moved to another monastery.

Caldey Island, off Tenby in Pembrokeshire, is owned by an order of Cistercian monks and welcomes around 50,000 day visitors each year.
