NHL Power Rankings: Fantasy hockey pickups for all 32 teams

The defending champion Hurricanes stay No. 1 in ESPN's weekly poll, with big shakeups below: the Oilers climb to No. 2, and the Lightning and Stars surge into the top 10.

The defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes hold on to the No. 1 spot in ESPN's weekly NHL Power Rankings — but there were substantial changes from Nos. 2 to 32, ESPN's Sean Allen and Victoria Matiash report.

The rankings come from a panel of ESPN hockey commentators, analysts, reporters and editors voting a 1-32 poll based on points percentage through Thursday's games.

The Edmonton Oilers climb to No. 2 (from third) at 85% points percentage, with goalie Devon Levi (2.72 fantasy points per game, available in 61.5% of ESPN leagues) named as the fantasy pickup. The Vegas Golden Knights slip to No. 3, with Adin Hill (3.91 FPPG, 78.6% available) looking back to his old solid self.

The Tampa Bay Lightning jump five spots to No. 4 after a strong week, with defenseman Charle-Edouard D'Astous (1.54 FPPG, 96.8% available) earning a promotion worth noticing. The Boston Bruins move up to No. 5, led by rookie center James Hagens (1.94 FPPG, 86.8% available).

The Utah Mammoth fall to No. 6, the New York Rangers to No. 7, while the Minnesota Wild hold steady at No. 8. The Ottawa Senators climb three spots to No. 9, with Tyler Kleven (2.03 FPPG, 75.5% available) producing like a top fantasy defender, and the Dallas Stars surge seven places to round out the top 10 — veteran David Perron, signed only days ago, is the wild-card pickup at 99.8% availability.

At the bottom, the Philadelphia Flyers escape last place (up to 28th), leaving the Vancouver Canucks at No. 32.
