Recruiting class rankings: Houston, UConn lead early top 10

Houston leads ESPN's early top-10 rankings for the 2027 men's basketball recruiting class, with UConn, Indiana, LSU and Missouri rounding out the top five ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Houston has stormed to the top of ESPN's early rankings for the 2027 men's college basketball recruiting class, with Kelvin Sampson's Cougars holding the No. 1 spot as the 2026-27 season approaches.

The Cougars already have four commitments inside the SC Next 100, led by point guard Oneal Delancy (No. 35), Darrell Davis (No. 43), Derek Daniels (No. 55) and power forward Triston Hawthorne (No. 90), along with highly rated shot-blocker Arafan Diane, according to ESPN's breakdown of the class.

UConn checks in at No. 2 after landing two five-star prospects in the same class for the first time in at least 20 years, headlined by NaVorro Bowman Jr (No. 11) and small forward Jordan Page.

Indiana sits third under Darian DeVries, whose group is led by center Darius Wabbington (No. 12) -- the highest-ranked recruit of DeVries' career -- shooting guard Chase Branham (No. 27) and international addition Felix Kiehlneker.

LSU (No. 4) and Missouri (No. 5) round out the top five, while Rutgers sits sixth, Duke seventh and Purdue eighth. Jon Scheyer's Blue Devils have landed the nation's No. 1 class three times since succeeding Mike Krzyzewski, but they will have to climb from No. 7 as the cycle unfolds. Michigan State and Georgia complete the top 10.

ESPN notes that commitments are coming in at a faster pace than last year's class, even as the top-ranked prospects in the 2027 cycle have yet to announce their decisions.
