The artist dropping her debut album after a billion streams

Irish DJ Jazzy, streamed more than a billion times, releases her debut album Peace and Patience and headlines her biggest show yet in Dublin.

Irish DJ and singer Jazzy is about to release her debut album after being streamed more than a billion times, the BBC reports.

The 30-year-old — real name Yasmine Byrne — is best known for tracks like "No Bad Vibes" and "Somedays", and has collaborated with the likes of Calvin Harris, Sonny Fodera, Rossi. and KILIMANJARO. After years of releasing singles that built her a monthly audience of more than 10 million listeners, her first full-length record, Peace and Patience, is finally on its way.

"It's been quite a few years of creating some smaller projects," she told BBC Newsbeat. "That's given me enough experience now to feel like it was the right moment."

Jazzy says she did not chase virality while making the album: "I just wanted to make something that was true to me and sounded like a Jazzy album." Fans can expect her trademark uplifting dance records, but also something more personal — including Invisible, a track about a bad experience in the music industry which she calls "my first ever diss track."

The Dublin-raised artist, who came up through the city's club scene with a group called Powerful Creative Minds, voiced fears for club culture as venues keep closing — industry figures suggest around 12 nightclubs a month are shutting across the UK, with almost 30% of the night-time economy lost since the pandemic.

First, though, her biggest gig yet: a homecoming show in Dublin this weekend, which she calls the biggest milestone of her career so far — even after a Coachella set and supporting Calvin Harris. She takes the album on tour across the UK next month.
