The only World Series preview you need: Predictions, likely MVPs and how many games Rays-Brewers will go

ESPN gives the 103-win Brewers a 59.1% chance of beating the Rays for a first-ever World Series title; 12 of 15 experts pick Milwaukee.

It's a first-time champion's series. The 103-win Milwaukee Brewers face the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2026 World Series — the two No. 1 seeds in the playoffs, and two franchises that have never won it all, ESPN reports.

Game 1 is set for 8 p.m. ET on Friday at American Family Field in Milwaukee. ESPN analyst Bradford Doolittle's model gives the Brewers a 59.1% chance of winning (DraftKings odds -160), with Tampa Bay at 40.9% (+140).

An ESPN panel of 15 overwhelmingly backs Milwaukee: 12 picked the Brewers, with seven forecasting a seven-game series and five a six-game win. Only three — Doug Glanville, Paul Hembekides and David Schoenfield — take the Rays. Likely MVP picks on the Brewers side include Jackson Chourio, William Contreras and Brice Turang (three votes each), while Rays voters split among Jonathan Aranda, Yandy Diaz and Drew Rasmussen.

Milwaukee's case rests on a spectacular bullpen — a 1.33 ERA over 40⅔ postseason innings, with Aaron Ashby throwing 12⅓ scoreless — competitive at-bats and sound defense. Their vulnerability is a thin rotation beyond Jacob Misiorowski and Logan Henderson.

Tampa Bay's case is constant pressure: the Rays led the majors in contact rate and posted the lowest strikeout rate, with Junior Caminero, Yandy Díaz and Jonathan Aranda supplying the thump. Their four starters — Rasmussen, ALCS MVP Freddy Peralta, Nick Martinez and Griffin Jax — have combined for a 1.98 playoff ERA, best among the 12 postseason teams.

Milwaukee is making its first Fall Classic appearance since 1982; Tampa Bay is on its third trip — and it would be a first title for either club.
